Robyn is from Auckland, New Zealand and Wolfgang is from Berlin, Germany. We met and married in Winter Park, Colorado in 1982 where Wolfgang managed, and was also the chef, at a wonderful ski lodge called Millers Inn. Our lust for travel and a little bit of adventure took us to many wonderful sailing spots and we fell in love with the Chesapeake Bay. We moved there in 1995 and opened a restaurant in the Eastern Shore town of Rock Hall, Maryland, and named it Bay Wolf (Wolf's sailboat at the time was called Sea Wolf). Very shortly thereafter we took over management of the Inn at Osprey Point. A random mailing offered Rhythm of the Sea for sale in 1997, so it was to Cape May we 'Wendt'.
Our mission with Rhythm of the Sea was to create 'gemutlichkeit' at the Inn. This old German word gives that sense of belonging, with cheerfulness and the absence of anything hectic and the spending of quality time in a restful place. The rest, as they say, is history.
